Led by talented singer and musician Vanessa Sanger, Highway 65 have burst onto the music scene like a breath of fresh air. Composed of a talented team of seasoned musicians, Highway 65 offer an eclectic mix of music from the 50’s onward, covering most musical genres, Rock & Roll, Country Rock & Classic Covers. Highway 65 cover music of all dance styles, we endeavour to keep the feet on the floor all night long.

 

Highway 65 members are available for solo work (Vanessa), Duo (Vanessa & Chris ) or the whole band for a great night's entertainment and dancing specifically designed to suit your requirements.

Highway 65 and it's various combinations regularly perform at pubs, clubs, restaurants, festivals, parties, corporate events and private functions all over Queensland and NSW.

 

Highway 65 are also available for Fly in Fly out performances. The band are happy to travel to your venue, whatever the location and are dedicated to providing your patrons with an entertaining time of great music and dancing.

VANESSA SANGER

As leader of Highway 65, Vanessa combines the roles of manager and musical director. With a love of singing from a young age Vanessa’s powerful mezzo- soprano voice is ideal for the style of music played by Highway 65. Her earliest music influences were Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and George Strait but over the years she has broadened her repertoire to include popular music from many of the top 40 Genres of today.

Like the rest of the band members, Vanessa over time has been a member of many bands, duo’s and is an accomplished Solo artist. The most recent being lead singer with Stars & Stripes. She is a regular attendee and performer at Tamworth.

Vanessa is popular with the boot scootin’ crowd but is equally at home with Rock and Rollers and the Country Rock scene she enjoys performing for patrons over a wide variety of genres. Vanessa has a huge drive to succeed and make Highway 65 one of Queensland’s premier bands

RAY CULLEN
Pedal Steel Guitar

Ray Cullen has been in the music business since he was taught the harmonica by his father at the age of seven and is a talented and accomplished musician with a career spanning many decades.  A country boy from Wynnum, Ray was attracted to the pedal steel guitar after losing his little finger in an industrial accident. He has since gone from strength to strength, playing with many bands including, Gleny Rae Virus and the Tamworth Playboys, Toe Sucking Cowgirls and Western Wind Band, just to name a few. Ray has also been a valued member of the Aboriginal Showcase travelling Australia performing in many remote locations and performed on the ‘Marra Country TV Show’. Ray has been in support bands for Troy Cassar-Daley, Lee Conway and Lucky Starr amongst others. He has also performed at all the major music festivals across Australia. Ray and his pedal steel guitar bring an exotic mix to Highway 65 giving an original sound that is a point of difference to other bands. Ray enjoys the camaraderie of Highway 65 and is dedicated to it's success.

MAX MURPHY
Drummer

Max is our drummer and hails from Kyogle NSW where he played music from the age of eleven. With a long history as a drummer, Max first learnt his drums at the dawn of Rock ‘n’ Roll and has been a drummer in a diverse range of bands during his career and has acted in roles as manager and musical director. He is an award winner at the Hadley’s ‘Battle of the Sounds’ and has supported many national and international performers.  He has been seen at Woodford, Byron Blues & Roots and The Gympie Muster. Max’s all round affability and talent is a definite asset to Highway 65 as they seek to become one of Queensland’s best bands.

CHRIS & VICKI PRITCHARD
Lead Guitar,  Bass Guitar and Vocals

This talented Husband and Wife duo from Traralgon in Victoria have been playing Guitars since before their teens. Chris plays Lead Guitar and Vocals providing the backbone of the band and supporting vocals. Vicki attributes Tammy Wynnette, Brenda Lee and George Strait as the greatest influences on her music.

Both Vicki and Chris have been members of many local bands and have performed at many local music festivals. Highway 65 is a great band and have a lot of fun entertaining an audience and support the drive for Highway 65 to be one of Queensland’s premier bands.
